1. I FORGOT MY PASSWORD. HOW CAN I RESET IT?

From the home page (www.serfax.com) select "Sign In" under the Serfax logo. At the bottom you will see a selection for "Reset Password". Click it. You will be asked for the email that you used to create your account. Enter your email and click on "Next". You are then provided with your security question and you must answer it correctly in order for your password to be reset. Once you answer correctly your password is reset to your last name + zip code (your last name is case sensitive and must be entered exactly the way you entered it when you created the account). We highly recommend that you log in and change your password. This is done by selecting "Update Account Info" menu just under the Serfax logo (once you log in).


2. HOW IS AVERAGE DISTANCE TRAVELED CALCULATED

We use the dates and the odomter that you save in your service records and divide the total odometer (max-min value) by total days between all services. You need to have at least 2 service records saved for this calculation to be visible.


3. HOW DO YOU DETERMINE WHAT THE NEXT RECOMMENDED SERVICE IS FOR MY VEHICLE?

When you create a service record you can enter the next recommmended odometer or date for the next service. When you request to see the next recommended service for the vehicle we determine if there are any service records with the next recommended date later than today's date or service records with the next recommended odometer value that are greater than the highest recorded odometer value for all services for that vehicle. We provide you with 2 tables, one for services based on date and the other for services based on odometer.


4. HOW DO I ADD A SERVICE REMINDER FOR MY VEHICLE?

You can do this when you create a service record at the bottom of the input form you can enter the next recommmended odometer or date for the next service. If you just want to create a reminder you can create a new service record and in the description type in something like "Reminder change oil". Fill out the rest of the form (you can leave most of the entries blank) and then enter the next recommmended odometer or date for the service reminder.


5. CAN I ADD BUSINESS CARD INFO FOR MY SERVICE PROVIDER AFTER THE SERVICE IS CREATED?

No. Right now the only time that you can add a business card is at the time that you create the service. We are looking at adding this ability in the future.


6. WHY CAN'T I CHANGE THE MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR OF MY VEHICLE AFTER IT IS CREATED?

The only time that you can modify the make, model and year of your vehicle is at the time you create the vehicle. If you make a mistake entering this info you will have to delete the vehicle and recreate it. If you vehicle was upgraded to premium status, deleting the vehicle will delete your premium status also.


7. DO I HAVE TO FILL OUT ALL OF THE INFORMATION ON THE FORMS?

Depending on the form you are on there are some information that is required. If you do not have that information that is required entered you will be given a error message when you try to save. Some forms , like the vehicle details and service details have very few required fields. You can leave any optional field blank.


8. IF I DELETE A VEHICLE, WHAT HAPPENS TO ALL OF MY INFORMATION FOR THAT VEHICLE?

Once you chose to delete a vehicle you will be asked to confirm deletion as a safety precaution. If you confirm then all of the information for the vehicle, images, services are deleted. There is no way to recover that information.


9. IF I AM A COMMERCIAL BUSINESS, DO I HAVE TO UPGRADE TO A COMERCIAL ACCOUNT?

You can try us out for free for 30 days and if you find that the site is useful for your buisness we ask that you upgrade to a commercial account. It helps keep Serfax free for all of the folks that use it for personal use which includes your friends and family.


10. HOW LONG IS MY ACCOUNT ACTIVE?

If you access your account at least once per year your account will be maintained active. If you do not access your account within one year then your account may be deleted by Serfax automatically.


11. CAN I EXPORT MY DATA TO EXCEL OR TEXT FILE?

Yes but not directly. What you have to do is to display your service records then right click on the top left of the data table and drag it down to the bottom right of the data table. This will select the data. Then do a copy of the selected data (Ctrl-C on the PC). Open up Excel or a text editing program and paste the data Ctrl-V on the PC).


12. WE USED TO BE ABLE TO SAVE IMAGES OF OUR VEHICLES AND RECEIPTS FOR THE SERVICES, WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS FEATURE?

It was removed when we migrated to the next major update of Serfax. We analyzed the use case and realized that this feature was rarely being used. In the process we opened up what used to be known as premimum services to all users with the exception of commercial accounts.
